Announced May 20, 2026, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts is set to expand its global portfolio with the Bvlgari Resort Ranfushi in the Maldives. This new property, delayed from an initial 2025 target, is slated to open in 2026. According to Islands, the resort will span approximately 50 acres within the Raa Atoll, offering 54 units.

Guests will have the choice of 33 beachfront villas, each with Indian Ocean views and a private pool, or overwater villas accessible via wooden walkways. Islands notes that Ranfushi, meaning "Little Golden Island" in the local Dhivehi language, leans into the Bvlgari brand's association with precious metals.

The Maldives, an archipelago of over 1,200 islands southwest of India and Sri Lanka, is already a hub for high-end tourism, with Islands reporting around 170 resorts. The Raa Atoll specifically is known for its concentration of luxury accommodations.

Bvlgari, originally a Greek silversmith company founded in Rome in 1884, expanded into hospitality in 2004 with its Milan hotel. This Maldivian venture marks the brand's tenth global location, joining properties in Dubai, Bali, and Tokyo. Future Bvlgari openings are also planned for Turkey, Florida, the Bahamas, and Abu Dhabi.

Designed by Italian firm ACPV Architects, the Ranfushi resort presents a different scale from Bvlgari's largely urban hotels. It will feature four distinct dining experiences: Il Ristorante, helmed by executive chef Niko Romito, will serve Italian cuisine; Bao Li Xuan will offer Chinese dishes; Hōseki will specialize in Japanese; and La Spiaggia will provide more casual fare. The resort will also include a wellness spa, a Bvlgari boutique, and a 55th villa on its own private island.

Islands highlights that Vogue named Ranfushi one of the most anticipated hotel openings globally in December 2025.

Access to Ranfushi is via Velana International Airport in Malé, followed by a 45-minute seaplane transfer. While nightly rates are not yet public, Islands anticipates pricing in line with other Bvlgari properties, typically in the thousands of dollars per night.
