Announced June 4, 2026, Six Senses Vana in Dehradun, India, continues its legacy as a transformative wellness retreat. Originally opened in 2014 by visionary Veer Singh, Vana swiftly established itself at the forefront of India’s luxury wellness scene. The property's enduring philosophy prioritizes deep healing and inner work, a commitment reflected in its ban on phones in public spaces and a minimum one-week stay requirement.

Six Senses took ownership of Vana in 2023, yet the medical insights, holistic methodology, and essential character remain. The interiors merge contemporary design with a minimalist aesthetic, punctuated by Himalayan salt walls, Buddha imagery, sleek pools, and subtle Indian flourishes like Ganesha statues. Views of the hills from hot tubs emphasize nature’s omnipresence, fostering an atmosphere of profound tranquility.

Vana’s strength lies in its sophisticated integration of diverse healing traditions. Guests receive a thorough wellness screening and consultation upon arrival, covering everything from weight to lifestyle and supplements. This bespoke assessment informs individual programs, which typically include two daily therapies alongside movement, rest, and contemplative practices, from meditation to sound healing. Treatments span classic Ayurvedic procedures like Shirodhara, Tibetan healing rituals, acupuncture, reflexology, and Watsu sessions.

Guests can also join various group activities, including specialized meditations, Yoga Nidra, breathing exercises, pottery, cooking workshops, power walks, functional fitness, Aqua Moves, and traditional 'raag therapy' with Indian flute music. Evening programs feature talks on topics like The Yogasutra of Patanjali, Hindustani classical recitals, and poolside movie screenings.

The emphasis throughout is on gentle healing. CN Traveller notes the organic formation of friendships among a diverse clientele, from a reported gathering of "LA escapees" to leaders in "climate-change solutions." Guests engage in activities like crafting body scrubs at the Alchemy Bar.

CN Traveller praises the uniformly excellent treatments, describing each as a meticulously delivered, layered journey. The reflexology is highlighted for its broad benefits, particularly for those who are touch-shy. Authentic Ayurvedic massages are noted for their invigorating effects, though CN Traveller advises guests to be prepared for the traditional lungi attire. The Watsu, an aquatic 'back-to-the-womb' massage, is singled out for its muscle-relaxing qualities. Vana is also unique as the first retreat globally where therapists, with the Dalai Lama’s blessing, are trained at the Men-Tsee-Khang Tibetan Medical and Astro Institute and permitted to practice outside traditional Tibetan medical settings. These rare treatments utilize specialized oils, herbs, and gentle techniques to nurture guests physically, emotionally, and energetically.
