Aman Sveti Stefan, the esteemed resort on Montenegro's Adriatic coast, is scheduled to reopen on May 6, 2026. The property has been shuttered for five years, entangled in a dispute with the Montenegrin government regarding public access to its adjacent beaches.

The resolution, as reported by euronews, dictates that two of the three beaches near the luxury resort will now be freely accessible to local residents. The third beach will remain exclusively for hotel guests.

Our take: The reopening of Aman Sveti Stefan signals a pragmatic compromise between luxury hospitality and local community interests. For years, exclusivity has been a hallmark of the Aman brand, but this agreement reflects an evolving landscape where private enterprises must increasingly engage with public good. This could set a precedent for similar high-end developments in culturally sensitive or publicly valued locations worldwide.
