Announced June 29, 2026, IHG Hotels & Resorts has committed to expanding its Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Saudi Arabia, with all six of its premium brands slated to be open or in the pipeline by 2028.

This ambitious expansion, which includes Six Senses, Regent, Kimpton, Hotel Indigo, and Vignette Collection entering the market, reinforces Saudi Arabia's position as a crucial growth market for IHG. The company's journey in the Kingdom predates this strategy by decades, with the InterContinental Riyadh launching in 1975, making Saudi Arabia one of IHG's most significant global markets.

The move aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aims to attract 150 million visitors. IHG's diversified portfolio — encompassing Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium, Essentials, and Suites — positions it to cater to a broad spectrum of travel demands, from religious and business travel to leisure and luxury stays, according to Hospitality Net — Latest News.

Haitham Mattar, Managing Director for Middle East, Africa & Southwest Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, remarked that Saudi Arabia is among the world's most dynamic hospitality markets and strategically vital for IHG. Mattar emphasized that the company is not merely expanding its footprint but actively shaping the future of hospitality in the Kingdom, responding to evolving traveler demands for distinctive luxury experiences with authentic local character.

Our take: IHG's aggressive push into Saudi Arabia's luxury sector highlights a broader trend: international hospitality brands are not just entering but deeply embedding themselves into the Kingdom's ambitious tourism development. This influx brings sophisticated, design-forward concepts that will dramatically reshape the luxury travel landscape in the Middle East.
