On June 16, 2026, K9 Resorts Luxury Pet Hotel announced the opening of its 50th location in Turnersville, New Jersey. This milestone for the dog boarding and daycare franchise establishes a significant presence for the brand, which specializes in what Pet Age describes as a "premium, resort-style experience."
The Turnersville resort is notable for franchisee Rachel Vennitti, whose journey with K9 Resorts began as a customer seeking reliable care for her rescue dogs. After two decades in tech human resources, Vennitti joined K9 Resorts' Cherry Hill team in 2025 before purchasing her own franchise this year. According to Pet Age, Vennitti was drawn to the brand's "intentional" design and consistent operations.
The new Turnersville location also marks a full-circle moment for the New Jersey-based company, situated just 90 minutes from its original Fanwood resort, which recently celebrated 21 years of operation. Pet Age reports that K9 Resorts now boasts over 170 locations either open or in development nationwide, demonstrating a focused expansion strategy.
Jason Parker, K9 Resorts co-founder and CEO, told Pet Age that he and co-founder Steven Parker recognized a gap in the market for high-end pet care over two decades ago. He emphasized their hands-on approach to maintaining the brand's premium standards. Parker stated, "Reaching 50 open resorts is something we’re proud of because it represents more than two decades of refining the model, being intentional about our growth and staying committed to the standards that define the K9 Resorts brand."
Our take: The proliferation of luxury pet hotels, particularly those achieving significant scale like K9 Resorts, underscores a burgeoning segment within the hospitality industry. Affluent pet owners increasingly view their animals as integral family members, demanding the same quality of care and comfort they expect for themselves. This trend suggests a ripe market for upscale, experience-driven pet services, moving beyond basic kenneling to offer bespoke accommodations and amenities. The success of K9 Resorts, with mature locations reportedly generating average unit volumes exceeding $2.8 million, highlights the strong economic potential of this specialized niche.
