Announced June 22, 2026, Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, opens as the brand's first venture into the Balearic Islands. This property extends Mandarin Oriental's presence in Spain, joining its existing portfolio.

The resort features 131 rooms and suites, each with sea views. Set amidst gardens and seafrontage, several suites include private pools. Dining options span six venues, complemented by a spa, tennis court, and yoga sessions. For off-site activities, guests can access a golf course and various cycling routes across the island.

Hotel Management Network reports that arrivals to the property can be arranged via an exclusive yacht transfer service. The site, previously home to Hotel Punta Negra, is characterized by Aleppo pine trees, secluded coves, and expansive Mediterranean vistas. As Mandarin Oriental states, the resort aims to preserve its historical essence while embracing contemporary design and the island's natural beauty.

Our take: Mandarin Oriental's expansion into Mallorca signals a strategic move to capture the luxury travel market in the Balearic Islands. The emphasis on sea views, private pools, and a blend of local heritage with modern amenities is a familiar play for the brand, and it will be interesting to see how Punta Negra differentiates itself in a crowded luxury destination. The yacht transfer option certainly offers a compelling entrance.
