Announced July 20, 2026, Winnow, a global leader in AI-powered food waste measurement, has completed its acquisition of Lumitics, a prominent food waste technology company based in Asia-Pacific. This acquisition combines two significant players in the hospitality food waste sector.

The acquisition, revealed July 16, 2026, by Hospitality Net — Latest News, merges Winnow's international AI platform and customer portfolio with Lumitics' regional presence, product innovation, and established relationships within the Asia-Pacific hospitality industry. Hospitality Net — Latest News further notes that this strengthens Winnow's capacity to support hospitality groups across a region identified by the WTTC as strategically important for growth.

Founded in 2013, Winnow offers an AI platform utilized by major foodservice and hospitality operators, such as IKEA, Hilton, and Accor. The platform reportedly helps kitchens in nearly 100 countries reduce over $100 million in food waste annually. Winnow maintains offices in London, Chicago, Dubai, Singapore, and Cluj-Napoca.

Lumitics, established in 2017, was backed by Velocity Ventures' Nicholas and Jonathon Cocks, alongside impact investors like Franck Courmont and Steve Melhuish, founder of PropertyGuru. Hospitality Net — Latest News states it was an early adopter in Asia of AI, computer vision, and data analytics for commercial kitchen food waste management. Over nine years, Lumitics grew its regional presence, with clients including Accor, Hyatt, Marriott, and Four Seasons, leveraging its technology to enhance kitchen efficiency and integrate waste reduction.

Lumitics' existing clients will now access Winnow VisionAI, which includes enhanced plate waste tracking and features like "Throw & Go." This capability uses AI for automatic identification and weighing of discarded food, eliminating manual scanning or input. Hospitality Net — Latest News assures that service continuity is planned, with clients retaining data access during a phased transition to Winnow's platform.

Our take: This consolidation signals a clear direction for food waste technology in luxury hospitality. With major players like Accor, Hyatt, Marriott, and Four Seasons already in the fold, the combined entity is poised to set industry standards. Expect to see enhanced efficiency and measurable sustainability gains become table stakes for high-end establishments.
