Capella Debuts in Macau, a Jungle Oasis Amidst Urban Luxury

Capella Hotel Group opened Capella at Galaxy Macau on February 12, 2026, joining Raffles and The Ritz-Carlton in the expansive Galaxy Macau complex. Designed by Moinard Bétaille, the 95-key hotel draws inspiration from a tropical jungle, envisioned to change from dawn to dusk.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a chamber of light and running water surrounding a 'Tree of Life' in the ground floor lobby. This central feature, according to Sleeper Magazine, pulsates with colored light. Round pools, lush foliage, and sculpted wooden storks complement an immersive three-meter LED screen by Hong Kong artist Laura Cheung, founder of LaLa Curio. This digital artwork introduces the hotel's jungle narrative. The experience continues on the first floor where artworks by Bruno Moinard and American ceramic artist Jason Messinger are displayed.

A cornerstone of the Capella experience is the 'Capella Culturist', who welcomes guests in the Capella Living Room. This space, a hallmark of Capella properties, serves as a social salon featuring Bruno Moinard's abstract oil painting, 'Jungle Blue'. Here, Capella Culturists guide guests through Macau's heritage, hosting daily Capella Rituals such as tea ceremonies, baijiu tastings, and cultural introductions.

Accommodations, reportedly the largest in Southern China, begin with 128-square-meter, one- and two-bedroom apartment-style suites. Each includes private indoor plunge pools and hand-finished, jungle-inspired walls by Laura Cheung. Four-bedroom penthouses span nearly 700 square meters, offering a balcony with an infinity-edge lap pool and outdoor lounge. These expansive units feature a private winter garden, a wellness room with a massage chair and TechnoGym equipment, a games room with a foosball table, and a butler pantry. Two-bedroom penthouses mirror many of these amenities, adding a dedicated family room.

The hotel's culinary offerings include Michelin-starred chef Vicky Cheng's modern French cuisine. The bar's name signifies 'precision, ritual and aroma,' with the 'pony' representing a precise measure and the 'plume' an aromatic smoke cloud used in signature cocktails, as reported by Sleeper Magazine. The venue offers guided tastings, smoke-infused concoctions, bar snacks, and a private reserve of whisky casks.

Through its 'Capella Curates' program, Capella at Galaxy Macau provides bespoke experiences like private helicopter tours and excursions to historic Lai Chi Vun with maritime cuisine offerings.
