On June 1, 2026, the luxury country house hotel Cromlix officially reopened its doors following nearly six months of extensive refurbishment. The property, co-owned by tennis star Andy Murray and his wife Kim, closed last September to undergo what Rus Tourism News describes as one of its most ambitious transformations since a major 2023 renovation.

The centerpiece of the relaunch is two new dining venues. The Garden Room is an 80-seat, glass-fronted restaurant that emphasizes locally sourced ingredients, including produce from the hotel’s own kitchen garden. For a more intimate experience, Cradle offers a 16-cover fine-dining option within the main hotel building. The former signature restaurant space, The Glasshouse, will now host afternoon tea and private events.

Beyond dining, the redevelopment included expanded wellness facilities and additional guest accommodations. The hotel kitchen was relocated and enlarged to support the increased dining capacity. Local architect Fergus Purdie led the design of the new restaurant building, while interior specialist Suzanne Garuda, who worked on the 2023 refurbishment, returned for the interiors.

Our take: Cromlix’s significant investment in F&B positions it directly against Scotland's burgeoning gastronomic scene. This move reinforces the trend of luxury country estates leveraging culinary excellence as a primary draw, rather than resting solely on reputation or location.
