Velvet curtains, theatrical cocktails and a fictional 1930s muse: Belmond’s newest British Pullman carriage is serving pure cinematic escapism.

Luxury train travel has always traded on a sense of escapism, but Belmond’s newest carriage takes things several steps further. Launching aboard the [British Pullman, A Belmond Trai](https://www.belmond.com/trains/europe/uk/belmond-british-pullman/?srsltid=AfmBOopwbqyy4IJcSPTloKVE-aHCc6mfbT4Fx3sT6lKvVpm64IQXpKFy) n in May 2026, Celia is an opulent new private dining and events space designed by Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and Oscar-winning costume and production designer Catherine Martin.

Part theatrical set, part intimate supper club, the carriage has been designed for just 12 guests and shifts mood throughout the journey. It’s immersive, highly detailed and unapologetically maximalist – exactly what you’d expect from the creative duo behind some of cinema’s most visually extravagant worlds.

Unlike the rest of the historic train’s carriages, Celia arrives with an entirely invented backstory. The space centres around a fictional 1930s theatre star named Celia – an eccentric West End darling who, according to the carriage’s mythology, was gifted her own Pullman car after a celebrated performance as Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

That sense of fantasy runs through every detail.

Pansies – the flower used to enchant Titania in Shakespeare’s play – appear embroidered throughout the interiors, while intricate marquetry panels depict woodland scenes inspired by the English countryside. Plush purple velvet seating sits against rich greens, warm reds and patterned parquetry floors, creating an atmosphere somewhere between old-world theatre and an especially extravagant country house.
