Barcelona, a city celebrated for Antoni Gaudí’s vibrant mosaics and architectural marvels, also hosts some of Spain's most opulent and meticulously designed hotels. Robb Report — Travel notes that the Catalan capital offers a diverse array of accommodations, ranging from historic city-center grande dames to modern skyscrapers with sweeping sea views.

This year, 2026, marks the centenary of Gaudí's passing and the anticipated completion of La Sagrada Familia, adding another layer of appeal to a visit. Beyond its architectural heritage, Barcelona boasts 28 Michelin-starred restaurants, several of which are housed within its premier hotels.

The city's relationship with its coastline underwent a transformation in 1992. According to Robb Report — Travel, this change was marked by the opening of Hotel Arts, coinciding with the 1992 Olympics and the revitalization of Barcelona's port. This property initiated a new era in the city's luxury hotel landscape.

Hotel Arts, a 44-story skyscraper featuring an exposed steel and glass facade reminiscent of the Pompidou Centre, offers views of the Mediterranean and Frank Gehry’s distinctive fish sculpture. Its 432 rooms and 44 suites, recently refurbished by Meyer Davis, now feature subtle neutral palettes of taupes and grays. The hotel's five restaurants include the two-Michelin-starred Enoteca, led by chef Paco Perez, complemented by two swimming pools.
