Announced June 10, 2026, Dusit International has finalized a hotel management agreement for the Dusit Princess Rishikesh, a 300-key luxury mixed-use retreat. Located in Uttarakhand's Tehri Garhwal region, this property is projected to open in 2031.
The Thai hospitality group has partnered with Atmosphere, a company focused on luxury real estate and hospitality. The resort will be situated in the Himalayan foothills, near Rishikesh, a prominent center for spirituality, wellness, and adventure tourism in India.
Dusit Princess Rishikesh will feature both hotel rooms and luxury duplex villas. The design blends contemporary hospitality with wellness experiences, drawing inspiration from the surrounding natural landscape. Facilities will include a lobby lounge, business center, all-day dining, an outdoor pool, a fully equipped gym, a yoga room, and versatile event spaces.
The property will also offer a dedicated clubhouse, expanding its lifestyle amenities with a spa, infinity pool, a 250-cover restaurant, squash courts, a mini-plex, a bowling alley, and various indoor games.
According to Focus on Travel News, Siradej Donavanik, Vice President of Development (Global) at Dusit International, described India as a "core strategic market" for the company. He noted that the Rishikesh location aligns with "evolving traveller trends and owner aspirations" given its "unique blend of spirituality, wellness, and natural beauty."
Sanchit Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Atmosphere, highlighted the collaboration as a "significant step" for his company. He expressed confidence that Dusit Princess Rishikesh will become a "distinguished retreat" for guests seeking "immersive and elevated stay experiences."
Our take: Dusit International's move into Rishikesh is a calculated play for a slice of India's booming wellness tourism market. While 2031 feels distant, the long lead time allows for meticulous integration of the brand's Thai-inspired hospitality with Rishikesh's spiritual ethos. This project could set a new benchmark for luxury wellness resorts in the region, provided the execution matches the ambition.
