Capella Hotel in Singapore, photographed this week by Reuters Connect photographer Caroline Chia, offers a compelling blend of heritage and modernity. The property, situated among 30 acres of lush rainforest on Sentosa Island, was originally two 1880s colonial bungalows that have been meticulously restored and integrated into a new architectural vision by Foster + Partners.

The resort features 112 rooms, suites, villas, and manors, each designed with bespoke furnishings and private outdoor spaces. Capella Singapore’s array of amenities includes two cascading swimming pools, a luxury spa, and several distinct dining options, establishing its reputation as a serene escape from the urban core of Singapore.
