On April 9, 2026, DoveHill, a vertically integrated real estate investment firm, announced its acquisition of the Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Collection in Washington, Connecticut. This landmark property, set on 58 acres, has long been a touchstone for New England luxury.
Nestled in Litchfield County, just 90 minutes from New York City, the Mayflower Inn & Spa has accrued significant industry accolades. It holds a Forbes Four-Star Spa designation, an AAA Four Diamond rating, and a coveted 1 MICHELIN Key. According to Hospitality Net — Latest News, Condé Nast Traveler has recognized it as one of the "highest-rated properties in the world" every year since 2017, and it was named "Connecticut's Leading Resort" by the World Travel Awards for 2024.
Beyond its acclaimed wellness facilities and dining options like The Garden Room and The Tap Room, the property offers guestrooms, cottages, and extensive experiential programming. DoveHill's plans include targeted enhancements to elevate the luxury experience, while preserving the property's established character.
As Hospitality Net — Latest News reports, Jake Wurzak, Founder and CEO of DoveHill, stated, "Mayflower Inn & Spa is one of those truly irreplaceable properties. It has an extraordinary sense of place, a legacy of excellence, and the kind of one-of-a-kind character we look for in every investment." Charles Paloux, Chief Investment Officer of DoveHill, added, "Ultra-luxury is one of the few segments consistently outperforming today, and as a drive-to destination just ninety minutes from New York City, the hotel is exceptionally well-positioned to capture the enduring post-COVID demand for nearby world-class escapes."
Our take: This acquisition reinforces the market's confidence in established, high-performing luxury assets, particularly those with strong wellness components and convenient access to major metropolitan areas. The continued management by Auberge Collection signals stability and a commitment to maintaining the property's reputation.
