Mandarin Oriental, Munich, has appointed Barbara Göttling as its new General Manager, effective May 1, 2026. Göttling brings over two decades of international experience in luxury hospitality, succeeding Marc Epper in the role.
A native of Vienna, Göttling most recently served as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Prague. According to THP News, during her tenure in Prague, she was instrumental in the hotel's strategic development, enhancing its reputation as both an international destination and a local landmark.
Göttling's career spans senior leadership positions in operations, sales, and marketing across prominent hotel groups such as Hyatt and Accor. Her work has consistently emphasized operational excellence, guest service, and strategic oversight. In her new capacity, Göttling will guide the strategic direction of Mandarin Oriental, Munich. Her priorities include curating personalized guest journeys, deepening the hotel's connection with the city, and cultivating a service culture built on mindfulness and precision.
Göttling noted, as reported by THP News, that the hotel's nearly 25-year legacy within the Mandarin Oriental Group has solidified its position as a leading German property. She aims to uphold this legacy while integrating the brand's cultural roots and Asian heritage. She also underscored the importance of a supportive work environment, stating that valued and motivated staff are crucial for delivering authentic hospitality.
The Mandarin Oriental, Munich, located near Maximilianstrasse in the city's old town, features 48 guestrooms and 25 suites. The property seamlessly blends modern design with Oriental influences and boasts a rooftop area offering panoramic views of Munich's historic center. Its dining offerings include Matsuhisa, Munich, by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
