Six Senses officially opened its London outpost on April 23, 2026, marking the brand's first foray into urban destinations. Known previously for its remote, exotic retreats, this new location aims to infuse city life with the sensory experiences typically found in more natural settings. The London spa, in particular, elevates this concept, combining traditional holistic therapies with advanced wellness technology popular among discerning travelers. As Vogue highlights, the facility also includes an on-site longevity clinic.

Taffryn Kinsey, the spa’s director of wellness, told Vogue, "It’s that combination of science and the natural world that we’re all sort of craving right now." This ethos means the London location positions itself as a one-stop-shop for all health, wellness, and fitness needs.

Spanning nearly 25,000 square feet, the spa boasts an impressive scale, a rarity for central London. Vogue notes that the extensive facilities – including a pool, multiple saunas, a fitness center, a biohacking suite, flotation rooms, and a "maze" of treatment spaces – are discreetly situated below street level. This subterranean design creates what Vogue describes as a "cozy, rabbit-hole aspect." The interiors are adorned with exquisite furnishings and soft, circadian rhythm-aligned lighting and soundscapes.

The spa occupies the former site of Whiteleys, London's first department store, which began its illustrious history in the 19th century. After earning a royal warrant from Queen Victoria in the 1890s, Whiteleys became renowned for offering an extensive range of goods, with its founder William Whiteley famously claiming one could buy anything "from a pin to an elephant" there, a claim Vogue reports he apparently fulfilled. The current Six Senses spa preserves much of this history, incorporating the original Victorian facade, an impressive glass dome, and the grand marble staircase, which Vogue notes makes for a particularly opulent entrance.

Our take: The Six Senses London represents a significant strategic shift for the brand, bridging its established reputation for remote, immersive wellness with the demands of an urban environment. Their ability to integrate advanced biohacking with traditional therapies, all within a historically rich building, sets a new benchmark for city spas.
