On December 19, 2025, Rosewood Hotel Group announced the launch of its first ski resort, Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin. This opening, in the heart of the French Alps, directly follows reports that parent company Chow Tai Fook Enterprises (CTFE) has no intention of divesting the luxury hotel brand, according to the South China Morning Post.
Sonia Cheng Chi-man, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group and daughter of CTFE Chairman Henry Cheng Kar-shun, stated that the Courchevel property underscores the group's long-term global expansion goals and its strategic move into experience-driven sectors. The South China Morning Post highlighted this as a reflection of commitment following recent market rumors.
Rosewood currently operates 58 hotels across 26 countries, with an additional 30 properties in various stages of development. The brand’s portfolio includes flagship investments from its affiliate New World Development (NWD), such as Rosewood Hong Kong, Rosewood Beijing, and Rosewood Phuket.
Our take: Rosewood's move into Courchevel, a highly competitive and exclusive ski destination, signals a clear intent to broaden its luxury experience offerings. This expansion not only diversifies its portfolio but also serves as a strong counter-narrative to lingering sale rumors, reinforcing the brand's stability and ambitious growth trajectory.
