Announced May 18, 2026, Six Senses has aligned with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN Tourism for the "Recipe of Change" initiative. This commitment targets a 50% reduction in food waste by 2030 across all its hotels and resorts. According to Hospitality Net, this partnership leverages Six Senses' existing operational strategies, on-site farming, and guest education programs.

Six Senses has long integrated sustainability into its brand ethos, a philosophy evident in their "Eat With Six Senses" program. This culinary approach emphasizes natural, local, and sustainable ingredients, promoting a 'less is more' mindset. Hospitality Net reports that this commitment extends from menu design to thoughtful waste management, including composting organic materials.

Jeff Smith, VP of Sustainability at Six Senses, notes that reducing food waste is a continuous and evolving process deeply embedded within their properties. He states (via Hospitality Net) that the brand has spent 30 years refining practical solutions, from plant-forward menus to returning nutrients to the soil. According to Smith, the "Recipe of Change" initiative provides a crucial platform for collective action and continued learning.
