On May 12, 2026, Hotel Management reported significant leadership changes within the luxury hotel sector. Among the notable appointments is Jason de Vries, who returns to the Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina, Hawaii, as the new General Manager.

De Vries previously served as resort manager at Four Seasons Oahu from 2021 to 2023, before transitioning to lead the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero as General Manager. His return signals a strategic reinforcement for the Hawaiian resort.

Concurrently, The Crawford Hotel in Denver has appointed Hector Karim Gaona as Hotel Manager. Gaona's extensive background includes luxury properties across the U.S., Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Hotel Management notes his tenure as Area General Manager for ÀNI Private Resorts and Director of Rooms at the Ritz-Carlton Club in Aspen, alongside leadership roles at One&Only Le Saint Géran, The St. Regis Chicago, and The St. Regis New York. Most recently, he managed Wynterbrook, a hospitality consulting firm.

Our take: The movement of seasoned executives like de Vries and Gaona underscores the competitive nature of luxury hospitality. Properties are clearly leveraging proven talent to navigate an increasingly discerning market. Expect these appointments to bring refined operational strategies and elevated guest experiences to their respective establishments.
