Rosewood Hotel Group announced its new 'Rise to the Table' program on February 26, 2026, an initiative conceived to champion female leadership within the global food and beverage industry. Described as more than a mere development scheme, this year-long program is a cultural platform. It reflects Rosewood's conviction that hospitality can be 'a force for good' and aims to 'shape a future where people and place enrich one another'. The initiative is poised to foster a dynamic community and elevate innovative voices from diverse backgrounds. The initial cohort, comprising eleven women from eight distinct regions, will participate in a foundational week-long residency in Hong Kong in March 2026.
According to Hospitality Net of Hospitality Net, the inaugural cohort for 2026 has been selected from 'a global pool of distinguished applicants'. They represent a broad spectrum of restaurant disciplines, embracing culinary arts, bartending, and sommelier roles, alongside private clubs and service professionals. Hospitality Net highlights the diverse backgrounds and 'bold ideas' of these women, positioning them as the 'next generation of leaders poised to shape the future of the industry'.
Hospitality Net further details the profiles of some of these individuals. Among them are Alexia van Breugel, a Sous Chef at Sem, a Lisbon restaurant focused on zero-waste principles. From Atlanta, Caitlin Hall serves as Sommelier at The Perlant, a private social club with an emphasis on gastronomy. Feyikewa Animashaun from Lagos is recognized for her entrepreneurial ventures, Ajoje Social and Kewa's Kitchen, offering contemporary Asian and Nigerian cuisine. Joyeta Ng, a Sous Chef at Poon's, contributes to refined modern Cantonese comfort cuisine in England.
The cohort also includes Karla Cardoso, CEO of Drinktivity, a Brazilian bartending community transforming cocktail culture through storytelling. Leigh-Ann Luckett, based in Hong Kong, co-founded Crushed Wine Bar + Retail, promoting sustainable wine. Lelani Lewis, from Amsterdam, is known for Nyam and Atelier Code Noir, experiences that fuse Caribbean heritage with immersive dining. Marie Mitchell, an entrepreneur, chef, and award-winning writer, is celebrated for her elevation of British-Caribbean cuisine in the United Kingdom. Finally, Rochelle Lawrence brings her expertise as the coffee entrepreneur behind Brew, a burgeoning brand in the British Virgin Islands, as Hospitality Net reports.
Our take: This initiative aligns squarely with a noticeable trend across major luxury hotel groups: beyond traditional sustainability metrics, there is a growing emphasis on social impact and internal talent cultivation. By spotlighting female leaders in the typically male-dominated F&B sector, Rosewood not only addresses a significant industry imbalance but also potentially enriches its own culinary discourse. Such programs foster loyalty and provide a pipeline for leadership, reflecting a strategic investment in human capital as much as a public declaration of corporate values. It implicitly recognizes that the guest experience, particularly in dining, benefits immensely from diverse perspectives and voices.
